LATIN FRANCHISE.

ZA Café Littéraire.

ZA aims to bring health and culture to Les Halles, Paris. Serving healthy organic dishes that encourage a sense of well-being, ZA allows diners to ‘print on demand’ books from its menu, encouraging all to ‘feed the mind’ as well as body.

IDENTITY.

A Girl & Boy from the City.

The identity plays with two metro-chic characters, each a collage of graphic features snipped from real book jackets. Both are built around the typewritten name ‘ZA’, inverting the beginning and end of our alphabet.

ON-SCREEN MENU SYSTEM.

Watch the Show.

Twelve giant screens show a carefully planned playlist of animation, showing up-to-date menus, meal deals and this week’s ‘Print on Demand’ book titles. Every 15 minutes, the information is interrupted by entertainment; A food-fight, raining fruit and vegetables, a brief encounter and a cycle ride ensue before the menu loop resumes.

THE MAIN MENU CATEGORIES.

THE ZEROX CAPPUCCINO BOOKMAKER.

Print on Demand.

More than 2 million copyright-free works of literature are available to print on demand in just 5 minutes from page to bound cover. A film on screens above mobile bookcases and introduces ‘Librarian’ Guillaume Allary from Allary Editions in Paris and explains his selection process in putting a new book on the menu, every day.

At ZA, the Typewriter is Even Mightier than The Pen.

SIGNAGE.

Heroes & Heroines.

Even the toilet signs embrace their literary inspiration. The main entrance zooms out and deals with archetypes whilst the individual boots have fun with some of the most well-known characters from fiction.
